Oh wow – this is a special episode – something we’ve never done before on the Infant Adoption Guide Podcast. My amazing and beautiful guest on the show is my oldest daughter Arianna. I’ve thought about doing this episode for some time now as I get a lot of you asking to hear from adoptees and their perspectives on adoption. We’ve had some on the show, but none as special as this one.
This has been said before, but it is worth repeating. Adoption doesn’t end when a baby is placed with you. Adoptees need to know their adoption story and they need positive support from their families.
Listen as my daughter and I share parts of her adoption story and talk about the importance of when and why she learned her story from an early age. She shares her feelings about being a teenage adoptee and what it is like growing up with two other siblings who were also adopted as newborns.
“You need to tell your kids their adoption story early. It is something that is so important because they will remember it always. It is what makes them special.”
My daughter, Arianna
I am SOOOO proud of my daughter for being brave enough to come on the show to share her thoughts, feelings and experiences about adoption. She did a fabulous job – and you’ll get a LAUGH out of the bloopers I share at the end of the episode. I certainly did!
