If you are feeling a bit overwhelmed at trying to figure out just how and where to start your journey to adopt a baby, you are certainly not alone. I’ve been in your shoes and many others have too.

My wife and I adopted our three kids as newborns. We are extremely blessed, but it hasn’t been easy. We went through a painful miscarriage and then dealt with infertility for many years in our effort to start a family.

I’ll never forget what it’s like to have an empty home when you don’t want one.

After we decided to build our family through adoption, it was clear to us that we wanted to adopt a newborn so we chose domestic infant adoption. Like many hopeful adoptive families, we started out totally overwhelmed with all of the information that is out there.

More than anything, we knew we just wanted to be a mom and dad.

The good news is there is help. On this episode of the IAG podcast, we talk about the 7 steps to adopt a baby in the U.S.

Now that we’ve been through the domestic infant adoption journey three times, I have created a guide to help you. It is called 7 Steps To Domestic Infant Adoption. It’s the guide I wish that my wife and I had before we adopted.

Each step is full of stories and info so you know what it takes to adopt a baby in the U.S. Here are the steps:

STEP #1: Do Your Research

STEP #2: Choose (the right) adoption professional (agency or attorney)

STEP #3: Complete your home study and adoption profile

STEP #4: Hurry up and wait (but don’t do nothing)

STEP #5: Match with an expectant mother

STEP #6: Placement (bringing your baby home!)

STEP #7: Finalization (the adoption is legal and forever)
