Today is a special day and this is a special post because I want to share a bit of my adoption story with you.IMG_5495

You see, as my wife and I started the domestic infant adoption journey over 7 years ago, we were already married for 12 years and we still weren’t parents.

Our dream when we were first married was to have at least three or four little ones. So after 12 years, we thought we’d have already have at least two kids (and so did a lot of our family and friends). But instead we struggled with infertility until we realized that God may have a different plan for our family.

Adoption was coming into view for us in 2005. It didn’t take us long to get on the same page about starting the adoption journey – and so we did back in early 2006.

We were so excited to start our journey. That excitement carried us through the countless hours we spent on the internet as well as buying up adoption books so we could learn all that we could as fast as we could.

But learning about how the whole adoption process works takes a lot of time.

We kept thinking there’s got to be an easier and quicker way to get this information. Especially since the adoption books we found usually dealt with every possible adoption situation, not just domestic infant adoption.

This made us feel totally overwhelmed.

Things became a little clearer because we quickly figured out that domestic infant adoption was the only way that we could adopt a newborn.

It would have saved us tons of time if we could have found a book or website with just newborn adoption information. So we had to sift through all of the adoption information to figure out what we needed to learn – and it took weeks and weeks.

In fact, it took us from January to April in 2006 to figure things out and to find the right adoption professional to help us. Once our home study and profile were completed, we waited nine months before our daughter was born and she was placed with us.

So why am I sharing this part of my story with you today? Because I think this might be similar to your story too and I want to help save you the countless hours that we spent at the start of our adoption journey.

I am working on some special projects that will go into more detail about the domestic infant adoption process. So for me to know exactly what you need, I would like you to take 2 minutes to answer a few questions. Your input will help me give you more focused answers to your domestic adoption questions.

Click the button below and it will take you to the adoption survey page. I really appreciate you taking the time to answer these questions.
